Pacers Club To Host Relay Classic This Friday
This Friday [Apr 29] the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will host the School Relay Classic at National Stadium. This event was designed to rekindle the passion for track and field in Bermuda , it was also designed to give schools the opportunity to show case the athletic abilities of their students.
The event is a family orientated event. They will have at least twelve primary schools, five middle schools and three high schools competing in the classic, and an invitation has also been extended to the Bermuda Police Servics, Bermuda Regiment, the Department of Corrections, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, Sports Clubs and various entities in corporate Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “The event will consist of two relay events, the 4 x 100 metres and 4 x 400 metres. Schools can enter their best teams in both the girls and boys divisions. With support from our sponsors we have a cash allowance of $3,600.00 that will be awarded to the Physical Education Departments of the top three schools at each school level.
“The first place school gets $500.00, the second place school gets $300.00 and third place school gets $200.00. An additional $100.00 will be presented to the school that wins either the girl’s or boy’s division in their level.”
