Photos #2: 2013 Alpha Phi Alpha Black & Gold Ball
The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity hosted their 13th Annual Black and Gold Ball at the Hamilton Fairmont Princess Hotel on April 13th, with the gala event seeing entertainment, awards presented and a keynote speech.
Founded in 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in New York, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity is the first intercollegiate Greek-Letter Fraternity established for Black University Students. Founded in 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in New York, the Fraternity’s goals are to train a new generation of leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence while providing service and advocacy for our communities.
The local chapter, Epsilon Theta Lambda (Bermuda) has served the Bermuda community since being formed in 1950 with several on-going community programs and partnerships such as Math Attack at Dellwood Middle School, The Annual Alpha Beautillion and regular events with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bermuda.
The local chapter membership includes a number of well known local men including former Speaker of the House Stanley Lowe, Minister Shawn Crockwell, MP David Burt, MP Lawrence Scott, Senator Diallo Rabain, Chief of Staff Dale Jackson, Dr. Burt McPhee, Dr. Beresford Swan, Dr. Vincent Bridgewater, Barclay Simmons, Wayne Caines, Dwayne Caines, Dr. Lou Matthews, Dr. Tim Jackson, Scott Pearman and many more.
