BIFFlix To Screen “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”
Bermuda International Film Festival [BIFF] announced that the June screening in its BIFFlix series will be the political thriller, “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.”
The film, which stars Kate Hudson and Kiefer Sutherland, will be showing on Saturday [June 29] 5:30pm, at the Tradewinds Auditorium in the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, 40 Crow Lane, Pembroke.
Based on the international best-selling novel, this film is the latest product of critically acclaimed director, Mira Nair. It tells the story of a young Pakistani man fresh from Princeton, Changez [Riz Ahmed], chasing corporate success on Wall Street.
He finds himself embroiled in a conflict between his American dream that seems well within his grasp with smart, gorgeous artist girlfriend, Erica [Kate Hudson], by his side; a hostage crisis; and the enduring call of his family’s homeland.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist Trailer:
When the Twin Towers are attacked, a cultural divide slowly begins to crack open between Changez and Erica. Changez’s dream soon begins to slip into nightmare: profiled, wrongfully arrested, strip-searched and interrogated, he is transformed from a well-educated, upwardly mobile businessman to a scapegoat and perceived enemy.
With time, he begins to answer the call of home. Taking us through the culturally rich and beguiling worlds of New York, Lahore and Istanbul, The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a story about conflicting ideologies where perception and suspicion have the power to determine life or death.
The Reluctant Fundamentalists premiered at the opening of the 2012 Venice Film Festival.
Tickets are available in advance on ptix or purchase at the door on the day from 4:30pm with cash, check, or credit card. Tickets are priced at $15. The film runs 130 minutes and is rated R.
