Video: Bermuda Junior Squash Players Return
Bermuda’s team returned home last night [July 29] with family and friends out to greet them LF Wade International Airport to celebrate their performances at the Caribbean Junior Squash Championships in Trinidad & Tobago.
Coach Runa Reta said she was extremely proud of the performance. Bermuda’s Girls Team and Boys Team finished 5th, while the youngsters picked up several Awards and Trophies during Individual play.
Charlotte Toogood went down in a five set thriller in the Under 13 Girls 3rd place match, Toogood faced off against Mia Lake from Jamaica falling 10-12, 5-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8. Anaya Smith finished 5th in the Under 13 Boys Classic Plate Division after he defeated Adam Ardito from Jamaica in straight sets 11-6, 11-1, 11-5.
Olivia Lindsay finished 6th overall going down in the Under 15 Girls Plate Final in a five setter, Lindsay went down 11-3, 12-10, 7-11, 13-15, 11-9 to Rebecca Low from Guyana. Dylan Pratt finished 4th in the Main Draw of the Under 15 Boys Division losing the 3rd/4th place match in straight sets 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9.
Bermuda junior squash players return from the Junior Caribbean Squash Championships
Tiye Williams defeated Susanna Armano 11-6, 2-11, 3-11, 11-6, 11-7 in the Under 17 Girls Plate Final, while Kion Knights finished as the Under 17 Boys Plate Runner Up after he went down 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 to Christian Edghill from Trinidad.
Emma Keane finished in third place in the Under 19 Girls Main Draw after she came from two sets down to defeat Talia Abdool from Trinidad 8-11, 16-17, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7. Nazhir Smith was crowned the Under 19 Boys Plate Champion after defeating fellow Bermudian Beckett Simmons 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 11-4.
