Rejected Wells Bid Reported To Be Over $1.6M

July 29, 2013

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony was prepared to break the club’s transfer record of $1.68 million to sign Bermudian striker Nahki Wells, according to a report from Peterboroughtoday.co.uk..

“MacAnthony revealed on his Twitter account today [July 29] that he bid more than the £1.1 [$1.68 million] paid to Crawley Town for Tyrone Barnett 18 months ago in an attempt to land Bradford striker Nahki Wells,” the report said.

The 23-year-old Bermudian was Bradford City’s top scorer last season, scoring 26 goals on his way to helping Bradford on their way to two Wembley appearances during their season, which ended with a promotion to a higher league.
