Basketball: Robin Hood Take Play-Off Lead

August 8, 2013

The Robin Hood Warriors have taken a 1 – 0 lead in the Best of Three Cellone Elite City League Play-Offs Finals.

Game 1 of the Bermuda Basketball Association’s Cellone Elite City League Finals series took place inside the Somersfield Academy last night [Aug 7] with  the Fort Knox Panthers taking on the Robin Hood Warriors.

The Panthers took an early lead which had the Warriors clamping down on defense and charging back into the game.

With defense being the primary goal of both teams it was a low scoring affair with the Warriors taking game 1 off of a Keiron Dill layup off a defensive breakdown by the Panthers with 11 seconds to go.

The final score was 40-39 with the high scorers for the Warriors being Dave Middleton with 13 for the winners and big man Jonathan Lowe with 12 for the Panthers.

Historically in the ECL finals no team has come back from being down in the series to take the title but so far in the playoffs the Panthers have come back to win 2 in a row to be in the finals conversely the Warriors have shown to have the killer instinct when up in a series.

Defense, strength of will, and heart will decide the next game and the fate of the Championship Trophy is now in the balance.

The Panthers have no margin for error and coach Hendrickson was heard saying “it’s like playing our mirror image and right now the reflection is winning the battle.”
