BDOT Helps NY Golfers Discover ‘So Much More’

September 12, 2013

The Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT] made an impression on visitors and members of The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers, one of New York City’s most popular venues for sports and social activity of all kinds, this past Saturday, September 7th.

BDOT partnered with the facility to host a special “Bermuda Day” of activities designed to showcase the Island as a premier golf and vacation destination.

The event, which was pre-promoted by the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers through signage at the facility, outdoor advertising, social media and digital outreach, was also promoted on the Bermuda Department of Tourism’s Twitter handle, Facebook page and website. More than 600 consumers took part in the day’s events.

BDOT staff were on-hand to promote Bermuda’s golf product and the upcoming 31st Annual PGA Grand Slam of Golf taking place October 14 – 16. Crowd pleasers at the event included a longest drive competition conducted in the facility’s outdoor hitting tees and a closest to the pin competition on their golf simulators. BDOT team members interacted with guests throughout the day, answering questions, providing brochures and collateral, and building its consumer database.

The Minister of Tourism Development and Transport Shawn Crockwell said, “Overall, the event was a great success. We had the opportunity to interact with New York City consumers in one of our key target cities, and promote the unparalleled golf found on the Island.

“There was a steady stream of consumers throughout the day who were enthusiastic about the Island, particularly golf. It’s important for us to be able to continue to broaden our outreach with consumers and the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers provided the ideal niche audience.”

    Question:

Can we confirm if the Minister was present at this event in NY last weekend?

    Question

  2. Family Man says:

    BS.
Chelsea Piers is NOT a golf club. It’s a driving range. Hardly anybody was there. This was nothing more than a boondoggle for BDOT staff.

    • Yeah right says:

Steady stream throughout the day…..not all at once as you seem to think.

They are a Golf Club, not a golf course.

People who go to hit at a range club also actually play golf.

So this would get Bermuda a good deal of exposure with those there and their golf and other friends they speak to.
