Lecture On Bermuda Symbols Given In Europe
The 25th International Congress of Vexillology was held recently in the Netherlands, and a paper on the history and characteristics of Bermuda symbols was presented.
Professor Michel Lupant — President of the Brussels-based International Vexillological Association — presented a paper at the event, providing an in depth look at the Bermuda flag and symbols.
Calling it his “modest contribution about the study on Bermuda symbols,” Professor Lupant undertook detailed research to compile the 50-page paper.
His presentation begins with the Armorial Bearings of the Somers Islands from 1635 and goes on to cover the symbols and flags used in Bermuda in the following centuries including military, political and more.
