Another waste of our dwindling tax dollars… Really, $9000 worth of weed? How much is this court case going to cost Bermuda? How much is potential incarceration going to cost? Please OBA, update our outdated drug laws. The public purse can’t afford this waste.

And if it’s sold to young kids that’s fine with you.

      • Sheeesh says:

Look… I don’t want kids smoking weed… several studies have confirmed that it is very bad for their development. My comment is strictly economical… this bust will cost tax payers way more than it is worth. it will not stop weed being sold to kids. It will though, cost us a bunch of money that we cannot afford.

      • WTF says:

No different then selling alcohol or tobacco illegally to young kids!

      • Tommy Chong says:

Drug dealers don’t have to apply for a licence to sell their drugs& don’t have to abide by age limit laws. Prohibition laws make it much easier for kids to get hold of drugs by making so called, “controlled substances” uncontrollable. To put things into perspective on average more teens smoke cannabis in Bermuda than in the whole of Netherlands.

    • Karma Chameleon says:

The cost of taking the courts is worth it if it means having two more alleged drug pushers behind bars if guilty! If you think guys would stop at selling weed – nope , next comes pushing hash, heroin, cocaine, oxy and others – whatever brings in the money and keeps the customer high and addicted. Lock em up if guilty!

  2. pabear says:

no law can stop any body from doing any drug. hence prohibition will fail. it only helps the law enforcement with pay checks and make drug dealer real rich

    • Tommy Chong says:

Prohibition has already failed many decades ago. Like Albert Einstein said way back in 1921, “The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in the United States is closely connected with this.”

whats wrong with weed? its a natural plant that doesn’t harm you. Some people need it for medical reasons do your research again.

    • Micro says:

Keep believing that it doesn’t harm you. Only way that is true is when consumed naturally, by either eating it directly/added to foods or boiled up in some tea!

      • Tommy Chong says:

In order to eat or drink enough to experience any effect it would have to be made legal. Hence the laws surrounding it sway users towards harmful ways. It could also be smoked in a vaporiser which would be harmless but vaporisers are illegal just to deter another safe way of using.

  5. Young says:

How about we look into the medical use of weed and maybe just maybe our health care cost would decrease. Like what WTH stated the selling of tobacco and alcohol to young kids illegally is no different but the health risk is much HIGHER and potentially DEADLY

  6. Typical says:

The only way to stop the crime is to legalize it, the fact that it is illegal is the only reason its big business. If weed smokers could grow their own weed the enticement of smuggling it would drop. The govt cant stop people from smoking what they want to smoke, if they start smoking Hibiscus flowers next are the laws going to change to make them illegal? NO! Leave the plants alone only worry about harder drugs like coke and heroin.

    • Tommy Chong says:

Coke & heroin use would have to be legalised also to affectively stop drug related crime. The solution for the hard drugs would be to allow use in clinics where under professional administration & supervision addicts could get their fix.
