Only in bermuda is a “ACCIDENT” a serious crime… drive safe or go to jail

Driving under the influence isn’t an accident.

You have it backwards. Only in Bermuda are the laws so lenient that someone rarely gets charged for injuring another with a vehicle & in most cases when they do get charged they get a slap on the wrist if found guilty. Other places have harsher penalties. We have more unsolved hit & runs here than unsolved shootings but hit & run investigations here will go on for a month or less than they filed away never to be looked at again. Hit & runs in other country are considered a serious criminal act & the investigation can go on for years & is treated as an assault. All I read about is were not safe because of shootings when the reality is most of our populous is more likely to be hurt or killed by a vehicle than a bullet.

While I agree that the punishments here are too lenient, 9 out of 10 road fatalities are a result of DUI, they drive drunk and kill themselves or sadly others, but times they take themselves out.
But if a hit and run has injuries it is arrestable and isnt sweep away, but lets be honest this isnt tv, CSI isnt real life. If they cant find the culprit then the case goes cold. But ppl arent dying or being seriously injuried by hit and runs at such a high rate as you are implying. Its a rare occassion and most times they are caught, no maybe the guy who struck your car in the parking lot might not be found but I have yet to hear of several cases of ppl being injuried or killed from hit and runs in Bermuda and no one being bought to justice.
The reality is shoots are a problem, we have more deaths from shootings then hit and runs.
The real problem with RTCs is ppl not being responsible and choosing to drink and drive. Not bad drivign habits which are way worse in NY and Italy to name a few, but careless folks who drink and drive.
