BEST To Host Southlands Showcase On Oct. 26

The Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce [BEST] wishes to remind the public that Saturday, October 26 is Showcase Day for Southlands.

“The Bermuda public saved Southlands from development and now BEST is inviting the public to join us in celebrating Southlands,” a spokesperson said.

From 12 noon through 4.00pm there will be an open house on the property featuring:

• A  view of Southlands, freshly groomed by a small army of volunteers
• Sign-guided tours designed by Dr David Wingate
• Display tables for various local NGOs
• “Celebrating Southlands” t-shirts on sale to mark the occasion

From 4.00pm through 8.00pm, the action moves to Southlands Beach where you can enjoy a relaxing bonfire with live entertainment on the Southland’s Beach. Bring your own picnic dinner and a towel, and please be sure to wear footwear to negotiate the rugged beach entry and exit.

Southlands Beach entertainment will feature a bonfire and picnic, along with live music by Valerie Sherwood, Michael Keats, Mike Davis, Peter Haynes, and The Bermuda School of Music. Juggler Ryan Flood will also be on hand in order to entertain the crowd with a fire-juggling performance.
