October 24th: Junior Golf Clinic And Barbeque

October 22, 2013

The 5th Annual Junior Golf Clinic and Barbeque will be held Thursday [Oct 24] at the Bermuda Golf Academy in Southampton from 5:30p to 8:30p.

Family Centre along with partner and title sponsor Tokio Millennium will give children the opportunity to learn golf techniques from some of Bermuda’s best golfers.

This event promotes healthy fitness in sports while it encourages learning in a family friendly environment. Children between the ages of 5 and 16 years are invited to participate. There is no required skill level.

“We are extremely grateful to Tokio Millennium for being the title sponsor of this event again this year,” said Martha Dismont, Family Centre Executive Director. “The Junior Golf Clinic is a great event because our friends, clients, and donors all show up to watch children participate and enjoy an evening meal together.”

Children will play golf with two hours of instruction from members of the Bermuda Junior Golf Association [BJGA] followed by a free barbeque with accompanying parents. Chris Brough, President of BJGA comments on involvement in the Junior Golf Clinic.

Ms. Dismont continued, “The Bermuda Junior Golf Association is excited to support the Family Centre’s Golf Clinic this year. Many of our members have been involved in their individual capacities in prior years, but this is the first year the BJGA has been involved as an organisation.

“We are grateful for the work that the Family Centre does to support Bermuda’s youth and knit together different social and sporting programmes in Bermuda. Golf is a game that the whole family can enjoy and is a game that promotes skills, which are invaluable in life – integrity, honesty and respect for the game, the rules and your competitors. We are hopeful that this event is the first of many successful partnerships between the BJGA and the Family Centre.”

Children must be registered and must be accompanied by an adult. Registration forms can be picked up at Family Centre, 25 Point Finger Road in Paget and at the Bermuda Golf Academy and Driving Range on Industrial Park Rd. [off of Middle Rd.] in Southampton. Registration forms can also be requested on-line by emailing Family Centre at golfclinic@tfc.prevention.bm.

There will be no registration on site and all forms should be submitted no later than 11am on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013. In addition, any adult not accompanying a child but wishing to participate in the barbeque should submit payment of $15 before or by the registration deadline.

The Family Centre said they would like to give special thanks to Tokio Millennium, Fairmont Southampton, The Bermuda Gold Academy, Coca-Cola, Dasani, Select Sites Group, the Bermuda Junior Golf Association and RBK Advertising & Design.
