November 18, 2014

Family Centre will host their 6th annual Kid’s Golf Clinic and Barbecue again on Sunday November 23rd at the Oceanview Golf Course.

There are two time slots offered for children and young adults between 6 years and 16 years to have private instruction from Bermuda’s golfing professionals and junior golfers on the putting green and the driving range for a beginner’s taste of the game.

Afterwards, a barbecue is hosted at the clubhouse to include hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chips, cookies, fruit, coca cola products and Dasani bottled water. One adult is invited to accompany each child for either a 2:45pm-4:30pm or a 3:45pm-5:30pm time slot. Each registered child will receive a gift from Family Centre.

“We are extremely grateful to Tokio Millennium for being the title sponsor of this event once again this year. Deloitte has come on board to support this effort this year too, along with Barritt’s ” said Martha Dismont, Family Centre Executive Director.

“The Junior Golf Clinic is a great event because our friends, clients, and donors all show up to watch children participate and to enjoy an evening meal together.

“We have lots of spaces remaining, so please consider joining us with your son, daughter, nephew, niece, or grandchild for a wonderful afternoon of golf lessons, along with a nice meal .”

Paul Adams, president of PGA Bermuda, expressed that the organization is excited to again support the Family Centre 6th annual Kids Golf Clinic, saying: “It means a lot to the PGA golfing professionals on the island to be able to share their skills and passion for the game. Golf is the only sport that one can play as a family”.

Chris Brough, President BJGA said, “The BJGA is delighted to lend its support to the Family Centre’s annual golf event. We have been directly involved in this event for the past two years and are encouraged by the enthusiasm the first-time players have for the game.

“The storms last month forced a change of plan so the format will be a bit different this year but we are looking forward to having a good afternoon at Ocean View Golf Club. One of the best things about this event is that it has evolved into something for the whole family with parents staying to watch their sons and daughters learn something new.

“We are excited about growing the game of golf in Bermuda and the more kids we can expose to the game the better for the future of golf in Bermuda.”

Spaces are reserved by emailing golfclinic@tfc.prevention.bm or calling 335-4351 or 232-1116. Deadline for entry is Friday, November 21st at 12noon.
