Man Charged With Unlawfully Entering Prison

October 23, 2013

A 21 year old man appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Oct 23] charged with unlawfully entering Westgate Correctional Facility.

Dwayne Brangman pleaded not guilty to the charge, with the Court hearing the Westgate CCTV system allegedly recorded him going over the perimeter fence, entering and exiting through the fence on 28 May 2013.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner released Brangman — who denied the charges — on bail.

This is the second case heard this week alleging someone trying to enter Westgate, following the charges laid on a 25 year old man on Monday for an unrelated alleged incident.

  11. Inspector Gadget says:

Wow! I guess they are allegedly just DYING to get into jail. Imagine trying to break INTO a prison out in the USA. HA! Only in Bermuda!

  12. Ty says:

@Johnboy – I’m with you on that one. Security must be awesome up there. They ought to pay the guy for allegedly finding the flaw in the Security system. Especially since he was allegedly able break IN and then break OUT. That’s HOTTTTTTT. Westgate Correctional Facility – the youth are making a complete JOKE of you and you all should be ashamed.
And who the hell is monitoring the cameras if he was allegedly able to get in and out. That’s the person that should be locked up. GO SECURITY… WOOHOO….

  14. The Sneak. says:

  16. SAD says:

Now I hope you are all joking around West Gate is no Hotel. Heads Roll for allegedly being caught on camera and not apprehended, Come on do you know how short staffed they are?
This idiot allegedly broke in because and I am assuming he has nothing positive in his life, the friends he has, are all locked up and they give him meaning. If I was a social worker or Judge I would have this guy do community service as a punishment if he is convicted, in a place that would give him a positive meaning in his life instead of sending him into a negative place. This individual most be a person easily influenced, so find him some positive influence.

  17. Pardi says:

    SAD, you are so true!

  18. Judge & Jury says:

All jokes aside, you really don;t expect the night officers to unlock Westgate and go outside, running around in the dark trying to catch some young gang A****** who might have a gun or some other weapon. Thats what the cameras are for, to record and prosecute. Correctional staff in Bermuda do not have taser, and guns like officers in other jurisdictions .
