Saltus Wins Girls Six-A-Side Tournament

October 10, 2013

Saltus Grammar School won the senior girls football six-a-side tournament after finishing the last day of competition undefeated.

The day’s victories for Saltus included a clinch win in the final match of the round robin tournament that secured the title for their school, even after falling well behind opponent Berkeley Gold.

The points table was so close that a defeat in that match would have pushed Saltus to third place, but Saltus player Eve Frazzoni scored twice in the second half to give her school the victory. Saltus also defeated CedarBridge Academy 1-0 with a goal from Zakiyah Durham, with their other match, against Berkeley Green, ending in a scoreless draw.

Cedarbridge finished in second place. They also defeated Berkeley Gold 1-0 with Deshae Darrell scoring the game’s only goal. They secured the Berkeley sweep after a goal by Jahzyiah Samuels gave them a 1-0 victory over Berkeley Green.

The All Berkeley match ended in a scoreless draw.
