The Bermuda Shakespeare Schools Festival
Giving high school students interested in the dramatic arts the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre and technical environment, the Bermuda Shakespeare School Festival will be held later this month under the patronage of Governor George Ferguson and Mrs. Ferguson.
This multi-day event will feature several plays performed, each of them one of Shakespeare’s works, with the goal of stimulating a greater awareness of theatre and dramatic performance in Bermuda’s youths.
Originally planned to be held every two years with its inception in 2008, the Bermuda Shakespeare Schools Festival has since become an annual event given its appreciation by and importance to the community, and thanks in large part due to assistance from the BSSF Committee.
This year’s edition will feature six plays held over three days, beginning on Monday, October 14:
Monday October 14
Much Ado About Nothing [Saltus Grammar School]
Measure For Measure [Cedarbridge Academy]
Tuesday October 15
Cymbeline [The Bermuda High School]
Othello [The Berkeley Institute]
Wednesday October 16
Hamlet [Warwick Academy]
Romeo and Juliet [Somersfield Academy]
Tickets cost $15 when purchased in advance or $20 at the door; all showings begin at 7pm.
