‘Voice’ Auditions To Be Held On Wednesday

Auditions for ‘Voice’ will be held on Wednesday [June 14] from 4.00pm to 7.00pm in the Bermuda Union of Teachers Boardroom on Church Street.

A spokesperson said, “Book your audition if you are between the ages of 9 and 19 and are interested in exploring theatre. Here’s an opportunity to create an original production moving from the page to the stage during the month of July using your creative voice under the tutelage and direction of some of Bermuda’s best professional artists.

“Auditions for ‘Voice’ will be held on Wednesday, June 14th from 4.00pm to 7.00pm in the Bermuda Union of Teachers Boardroom on Church Street. To participate, email Noiretheatrecompany @gmail.com or call Patricia Nesbitt at 703-6248 to receive an audition form to book an appointment.

“If you like to write, sing, dance, act, model, create art, DJ or work behind the scenes, audition for “Voice” to grow your talent and explore the World of Theatre. These workshops, in partnership with the Youth Library, officially begin on July 3rd and finish with an original production that the participants create.

“The production will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 28th to 29th at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall. All participants must be available for all workshops and performances. The cost of the Workshops is $150.00 per week and will run from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on July 3rd at the Youth Library and the adjacent Bermuda Union of Teachers premises in their boardroom.

“Artistic Director, Patricia Nesbitt, well known for her theatrical work in the community, in schools, and internationally has just been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for 50 years of theatre in Bermuda from the Bermuda Arts Council this past May. Highlights of her career include working as the producer/playwright/director for the annual Youth Travelling Theatrical Road Show, sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Recreation, producing her original plays like the PHAT Girl Series where she created Nadanja and Nishanti Bailey’s characters Norman and Sia, and as co-founder of Jabulani Repertory Company/co-producer/ and director for four shows per month at Hamilton Princess during the off-season.

“Other well-known Bermudian artists who now grace the international stage such as Daren Herbert, Nicholas Christopher, Eric Bean, Candace Furbert, and Lana Young have honed their skills under her direction in their early years.

“The ‘Voice’ artistic team includes vocalist, composer, and producer Joy T. Barnum as our vocal coach, international West End, London actress, Candace Furbert as our musical theatre instructor, producer, Rian “8 track” Williams, Bermuda’s first Grammy Award nominee for producing a song for Jamaican Reggae artist, Protégé, Shay Dawn Burgess CITV Television host and educator, and Joanne Ball Burgess as our choreographer, whose is known as the longest standing judge in Kenya’s Sakata Mashariki, a televised dance competition.

“Janita Burke of Kairos entertainment will host etiquette workshops for proper deportment for a Red Carpet event to be held prior to the production. This event is sponsored by the Bermuda Arts Council.”
