Cricket Warmup Match: Bermuda Lose To Italy

November 13, 2013

Bermuda began their ICC World Cup Twenty20 Qualifiers with a warm up match against Italy, with Italy taking the win.

Batting first, Italy had a late-order charge from Carl Sandri who scored 42 off 27 balls enabling them to reach 128 for six after Peter Petricola had made 25 and Damien Crowley 20. Jacobi Robinson was the pick of the Bermuda bowlers with figures of 4-0-18-2.

Bermuda started well enough in reply with Dion Stovell making 33 off 17 balls but Vincenzo Pennazza and Sandri grabbed two wickets apiece to bowl Italy back into the game.

Pennazza dismissed Stovell before returning to remove Kamau Leverock at the start of the final over, and needing eight to win from the final five balls, Bermuda fell short, despite the best efforts of Malachi Jones, who was not out on 14.
