The Minister’s full statement follows below:

Madam President, I’m pleased to report today that the Bermuda Job Board, a national employment database operated by the Department of Workforce Development is now in a live environment.

The Bermuda Job Board is an online platform available to Bermudians seeking employment opportunities. The main objective of the Job Board is to consolidate and centralize jobs available in the Bermuda market.

Madam President, the introduction of the Bermuda Job Board will significantly enhance the job search process for Department of Workforce Development clients and the entire community. Likewise it will assist employers in identifying qualified local resources.

Following on from a series of user development sessions with employers there are already several job listings posted on the site. It is anticipated that the number of listings will grow as we move forward as anticipated changes to the Work Permit Policy will soon mandate the use of the Bermuda Job Board as a part of the advertising requirement.

Madam President, once employers register and login on the Bermuda Job Board they will be able to create job opportunities, view candidate applications and search the database for suitable candidates. Candidates who have registered can search for jobs, create a profile and upload supporting documentation.

This information will be sent to employers to apply for job opportunities that match their education, experience and abilities. In addition to helpful tutorial videos on the home page, the Department of Workforce Development will provide support to employers and candidates as they become familiar with this new tool.

Madam President, all employers who have a job opportunity should post the job on the Bermuda Job Board in anticipation of changes to the Work Permit Policy. Individuals seeking assistance with registering for the Bermuda Job Board should contact the Department of Workforce Development helpdesk directly at 297-7714 extension 1820 or by email to dwd@gov.bm

Thank You Madam President.
