Woman Admits Stealing $200 From Employer
31-year-old mother of two Kyla Tear appeared in Magistrates Court today [Nov 26] where she admitted stealing $200 from the MAC store on Front Street when she was employed there as an Assistant Manager.
The money had been taken on 31st July 2013. The store’s accounts department had picked up on it when it reviewed takings for that day and checked the CCTV system.
The CCTV system had shown Ms Tear removing the money and placing it under another paper and the takings for that day had shown as $200 short. Police were called in and Ms Tear admitted to Police that she had taken the money.
Duty Counsel Saul Dismont told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that Ms Tear had been fired, that she had not intended to keep the $200, the $200 had been repaid the next day, and that Ms Tear had written a letter of apology to the store owners.
The Senior Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report, granted bail of $2,000, and required Ms Tear to return to Court on 17th January.

Who are you all to judge. Yes she made a silly decision to BURROW the money wether others see it as stealing. She admitted to her fault gave the money back as well as an apology letter. Now on the REAL- She has worked there for a while now, I am kindof surprised they called the police… Were they not able to talk with her on why she needed the money so bad…They know what she has been though these past few years…sounds like they have been watching her and was waiting for a slip up. I hope that Bermudians can have a little more compassion for certain situation.
I am so sorry that Kyla had to resort to this. I do hope she has learned from her mistake. SOmetimes we make mistakes in the moment and when it is aired that mistake will follow us forever. She has worked there for years. I hope that she will be able to forgive herself and be a better example for her kids.
