Woman Admits Stealing $200 From Employer

November 26, 2013

31-year-old mother of two Kyla Tear appeared in Magistrates Court today [Nov 26] where she admitted stealing $200 from the MAC store on Front Street when she was employed there as an Assistant Manager.

The money had been taken on 31st July 2013. The store’s accounts department had picked up on it when it reviewed takings for that day and checked the CCTV system.

The CCTV system had shown Ms Tear removing the money and placing it under another paper and the takings for that day had shown as $200 short. Police were called in and Ms Tear admitted to Police that she had taken the money.

Duty Counsel Saul Dismont told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that Ms Tear had been fired, that she had not intended to keep the $200, the $200 had been repaid the next day, and that Ms Tear had written a letter of apology to the store owners.

The Senior Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report, granted bail of $2,000, and required Ms Tear to return to Court on 17th January.

  3. JP says:

She could have just asked the store owners for a $200 loan.. Bermuda does have nice people. $200 costed her $2,000 that’s crazy. I really hope Ms. Tear has learnt her lesson.

  4. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm says:

It was not hers to take. Doesn’t matter if she paid it back the next day.

  5. Xmen says:

    Why all this bail nonsense’
All Warmer had to do is give her
A $1000 fine – so simple because all the evidence
Is there as well as the admission of guilt.
Why do I smell a rat.

    • Smh says:

So she can steal that from her current place of employment to meet the deadline and “pay it back the next day”?! Lolll.

  6. watch says:

I guess u dont kno wat the $2000 bail means. She doesn’t have to pay dat.

  7. The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

this just goes to show you that people are suffering pretty bad..i mean come on i believe that she would have paid it back,..still it doesnt make it right that she took it but hell she could have very easy “HIRED” some friends to come and rob the store when she was there and as manager she could be like “ok ok ok all u guys do what they say stay down …here take what you want robbers ;-) …oh no dont take those macbook pro’s oh no omg they stole 6 of them…….

Come on its obvious she made a bad choice

  8. watch says:

I woulda loaned her $200. As pretty as she is

  9. Loyal Friend says:

Why don’t you all F Off obviously it was a mistake! If you knew what happen then you won’t have NOTHING to say! So mind your business that’s all just mind your business & @NothingButThwTruth your just some gossiping hating A** chick #Simple

    • me says:

haha @ loyal friend maybe you shoulda gave her the money so she dont have to steal

  10. Loyal Friend says:

Who are you all to judge. Yes she made a silly decision to BURROW the money wether others see it as stealing. She admitted to her fault gave the money back as well as an apology letter. I don’t see why u all are judging her. Ppl of bermuda are quick to put others down when they have the most skeletons in there closets. You all like a little gossip. At the end of the day she sees her fault in the matter!!!!!

  11. Loyal Friend says:

    & @Me if my LOYAL A$$ was back in BDA I would’ve!!!!

  12. Truth Hurts says:

LOL at Loyal Friend, you sound stupid. SHE STOLE. Point blank period. Yes as her friend of course you are going to defend her…..t. I hope that her new employer keeps a good eye on her. I hope that she learned from her mistake. $200 is not worth your job when you are a mother of two with one on the way and it is not worth being blasted on here and the news. people can say what they like. This is bermuda. This was a public story. People will talk.

  13. Loyal Friend says:

@ truthhurts. Wtf are u to judge?! And I dont see her kids or if she is pregnant anyones business. And it def aint a matter of defending right is right n wrong is wrong. At the end of the day she saw her fault POINT BLANK!! . But yet again wtf are u to judge?? U act as if she is a repeat offender to say her next employer should keep an eye on her. Like really!!! Ppl make mistakes every damn day I’m sure u have once or twice no one is perfect. U pick up n start over. N I’m sure she has learnt her lesson a**!!! So yet again wtf are u to judge her or anyone of that matter! Some ppl don’t think.

  14. Cushywooshy says:

UMMM- Loyal Friend…take it easy and slow… If you are such a loyal friend you should have loaned her the money..You know because you are such a loyal friend and all…

Now on the REAL- She has worked there for a while now, I am kindof surprised they called the police… Were they not able to talk with her on why she needed the money so bad…They know what she has been though these past few years…sounds like they have been watching her and was waiting for a slip up. I hope that Bermudians can have a little more compassion for certain situation.

I am so sorry that Kyla had to resort to this. I do hope she has learned from her mistake. SOmetimes we make mistakes in the moment and when it is aired that mistake will follow us forever. She has worked there for years. I hope that she will be able to forgive herself and be a better example for her kids.
