Machete Wielding Man Tries To Rob Restaurant
On Friday night [Dec 27] a machete wielding man entered a Queen Street restaurant and demanded money, leaving the victim with a cut on his arm.
A police spokesperson said, “At 9:07pm on Friday evening Police attended a Queen Street restaurant on a report of an attempted robbery.
“The victim states that he was in the process of closing the establishment when an unknown male entered the premises wielding a machete and making demands of money.
“However, there was no money in the restaurant and the suspect left the premises empty handed. As a result of this incident the victim received a small cut to his arm and no one else was seriously hurt.
“Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen the incident or have any knowledge of the suspect or any circumstances, we are asking you to call Central CIU on 2950011.”
What an a******* time to take a serious look at our laws and put the funds where they can best be used i.e. Aggressive policiling of violent criminals by redirecting funds used to prosecute non violent cannabis users.
Thankfully we had no ANTI SOCIAL behavior over the holidays??? The bps needs to catch this person and the courts need to sentence him to, cutting of his hands just like they do in Dubai!!!!
Note to robbers – Please research closing hours of establishments. The money has already been locked up in a safe or taken from property well before the actual closing time!
It is going to get worse, more fallout from the state of a Bermuda left by the previous regime!
Didn’t you get the memo… We aren’t allowed to talk about the PLP’s epic failures any more. How else will we be able to vote them back into power?
We can’t scapegoat all our problems away. I don’t support either party but it’s just plain ignant to deny the fact that crime in Bermuda was gradual and a long time coming. A community problem, not a single-party one. …you sound like a blind follower.
14 years in power? This is definitely a single-party problem.
Lead a population to believe that they somehow ‘deserve’ something… And then never deliver… There’s your long time coming.
time to arm our store owners yes I said it……so they can blast open a couple of these fools trying rob business establishments
probably too much gun use here already.
Before asking for public assistance I think it would be helpful to actually name the place where they would like witnesses to have seen something. Assuming KFC, but it needs to be said.
KFC is still under renovations isn’t it?
You may be correct but KFC has been closed for renovations since at least the beginning of the month.
KFC is still closed. So either Lemon Tree or Mr. Chicken.
The 86 year old who was beat up in an attempted robbery said ‘it is going to get worse’…PAY ATT BDA!!! ROBBERIES WILL BE ON THE RISE, until our Gov’t decide to focus on helping the poor and needy (the have not’s)…I Pray for the victims and their families …
I doubt they robbed the place to buy food.
can’t blame the economy nor the state of politics. this is simply a sign of the mindset of a segment of our male community that are involved in nefarious anti-social behavior. this person was desperate to the point of attempted robbery…you can’t blame this behavior on anyone or anything but his own decision to commit a criminal offence
Politics politics politics …. in the smallest of incidences ppl always go back to politics…. bashing one side to the next… its getting stale now ppl. The whole world has had increased crime … due to recession not because of a political party. Bermy is no diff its just more noticeable here due to its smallness. I just wish some of the comments would just stay on topic of the news that was reported. Argh!
I agree with bornb for the most part except for linking these types of crimes to a recession. You can’t justify or reason violent crime to simply a recession….its a dangerous way to also give right minded people that are out of work a reason for non-violent crime, i.e. stealing from the Marketplace, gas station “pump and run” etc. if every poor person, or unemployed person had this attitude, our jails will be overpopulated within 3 months.
I must apologize, if it came across as if I blamed our Gov’t…I wasn’t focusing on the problem, I’m actually focusing on the solutions…Like all of us believe, It’s a desperate thing to do. My belief is that we Tled ny Gov’t) shouls be trying to help the have not’s.e.g. Clarence Hill , our nat’l hero, has been in serious trouble (including desperate drug related theft), how is it that we/ Gov’t have allowed this man to be a have not??? There are a lot of Clarence Hill’s in Bda….we need to focus on helping people like this!!!Its not just their fault!! Our system is failing in helping those that need to be helped…I’m talking from a first hand point of view….check the story today on Ian Raynor…HE was a 1992 olympiam for Bermuda!!! Again, I’m focusing on the solutions…and we need our Gov’t…speaking from experience!!! If not, the IB and Tourist will be scared to be here cause desperate ppl will rob and steal!!- peace n love
I am home, stop on in and get greeted with a golf club in the kidneys, a baseball bat in the head, tennis racket shoved where the sun don’t shine,, home made pepper spray HOT, HOT, HOT to blinding HOT, can of hairspray with matches attached and ready and many more surprises. TIME TO GET TOUGH BERMUDA. That includes the court sentencing.Yes Dubai justice should come to our shores. And swing voter, I agree but these wannabe a***** could be made to crush rocks for a prison addition, plenty of room to the north of the present one.
So … are the street surveillance cameras working? there are a lot of them in that area.
it was neither of those two restaurants mentioned.. bermudians who gossip… never get the true story …
