Students Create 90 Cards For KEMH Patients
People who will be spending their Christmas in the hospital will have at least one bright moment when they receive a handmade card, thanks to the efforts of Paget Primary School students who created over 90 holiday greeting cards for patients at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Since KEMH is in the parish of Paget, the PR department asked Paget Primary to create the cards as part of an in-house effort, with the idea to exhibit them for all to see and then hand them to in-patients on Christmas Day.
“I’m certain our patients will be uplifted when they receive their hand-made cards on Christmas day,” said BHB CEO & President Venetta Symonds.
“Partnering with the school brought the feeling of community to our effort,” said Anna Nowak BHB VP Public Relations.
“We were heartened by the sentiments expressed by the children who talked about everything from the joys of NASCAR to coaxes to return to work to reassurances to patients that they were being well cared for in KEMH.”
All the cards contained festive greetings or well wishes. One student wrote: “If I had my way, I’d make health catching instead of diseases,” while another student wrote: “We wish you a road to recovery.”
“Whatever you do you will always shine” said one student, while another card read “Hope you feel better you are always in our prayers – Happy Holidays.”
Paget Primary Afterschool Supervisor Mia Butterfield said: “We were happy to be able to help BHB’s PR Department with their in-house project and the students thoroughly enjoyed designing and making their cards.
“They are very caring and thoughtful and projects like this help them to recognise the importance of cultivating those attributes. It was a very healthy and happy exercise for them.”
Thats nice my old school back in the day
You little ones are great, making health contagious, I love that. keep loving honoring and respecting our elders who set foundations for us all.
This is a powerful story Bernews and I want to congratulate all those who made this happen, such a generous initiative and I am sure it will bring joy to all the recipients.
I truly believe this is one of the greatest tools to soul winning when it comes to sharing the gospel in deed and action, Jesus taught go ye therefore into all the world and preach my gospel, and in doing this we live the scriptures by our good deeds toward humanity and more so when we honor and commemorate the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Also for those that may not understand the Bible declares to honor thy Mother and Father for this is the first commandment given with promise, so they are honoring the fathers and mothers of Bermuda fulfilling the commandment, that brings the promise upon their young lives and to the teachers and parents also.
Bless each and every one of you.
