Severe Weather Overseas Creates Mail Delays

January 7, 2014

The Bermuda Post Office advised that “due to severe weather in the US and UK the public can expect to experience mail delivery delays for both inbound and outbound Bermuda mail.

“The BPO would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience and are actively working with our international postal partners to ensure a timely delivery as soon as possible,” a spokesperson said.

The weather has created havoc for travelers, with thousands of flights being cancelled over the past few days with multiple flights to and from Bermuda affected.

A blast of arctic air has settled over eastern North America, bringing dangerously low temperatures causing about half of the US population to be placed under a wind chill warning or cold weather advisory.

U.S. Authorities have blamed at least 16 deaths on the cold so far, including 11 from traffic accidents and three involving hypothermia.
