The Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in reported daytime burglaries, particularly in Hamilton parish, Pembroke, Paget and Warwick where mainly jewelry and electronics items were stolen.

Residents are reminded to secure their homes by ensuring all windows and doors are locked before leaving their property unattended. Any air conditioning units should be secured and it is recommended that all valuables are kept in a safe or safety deposit box.

In addition, residents are strongly advised to take pictures of all valuables and record all serial numbers of electronic goods. In the event they are stolen and later recovered, those goods can be more easily identified.

Members of the public should report any suspicious individuals or activity seen in their neighbourhoods to the nearest police station or the main police telephone number 295-0011. Remember, thieves are opportunist and travel down the path of least resistance – take away the opportunity and minimize your risk.
