Bluebirds vs Longtails – Final Score: 5 – 1 to Bluebirds B
After a closely fought first 15 minutes, Longtails made the breakthrough with a penalty corner goal by Maya Palacio in the 18th minute and the first half remained 1-0 to the Longtails. Both teams commenced the second half as they did in the first half, but it was Bluebirds who were rewarded with goals. A penalty corner by Deborah Sagurs who blasted the ball home to the right of the Longtails’ ‘keeper’ from the left hand side of the circle as a result of a slip from top of the circle in the 40th minute; now the score was even 1-1.
Bluebirds continued to apply the pressure with most of the play in the Longtails’ half as another penalty corner was given and executed by Bluebirds’ Nikki Murray-Mason in the 42nd minute. Laura Bardgett slipped one in just past the ‘keeper’ near the penalty spot in the 46th minute and now Bluebirds were up 3-1. Bluebirds’ Murray-Mason dribbled the ball from the long corner position along the base line near to the goal area and her strike that was miskicked by the Longtails ‘keeper’ was tucked into the empty goal by Maria Harris in the 63rd minute.
Bluebirds’ Kris Soares passed the ball to Kourtney Fassler who did a great solo run up the middle of the pitch, slipping the ball through to Harris at the top of the circle who managed to beat the Longtails’ ‘keeper’ and find the back of the net, for her second goal of the game in the 65th minute and that goal won the game for Bluebirds of 5-1 at the final whistle.

Upstarts vs Spartans – Final Score: 4-3 to Upstarts
The Sunday rainfall didn’t dampen the competition in the BHF men’s match on Sunday where Upstarts held off a number of strong challenges in the second half to take a 4-3 win over Spartans. The first goal of the match came in the 5th minute by a smoothly executed play by Spartans’ Sammy Thompson, beating three defenders and the ‘keeper’ to take the early lead. Upstarts responded six minutes later with a clean strike by Tony Ward in a penalty corner, assisted by Donnie Moniz, but Spartans’ Nigel Deane battled in a counter attack for a slap shot into goal in the 19th minute from a reverse stick pass from the up and coming Spartans’ junior player Q’shai Darrell. Upstarts’ Ward executing his second goal [this time a field goal] in the 30th minute during a scramble in the ‘D’ through the Spartans’ ‘keepers’ legs to leave the score in a 2-2 tie at halftime.
In the second half, Upstarts took two successive goals, Tom Gridley in a penalty corner play in the 40th minute from a Donnie Moniz slip, and Tyler Smith taking the Upstarts’ score to 3-2 with a well challenged field goal in the 53rd minute. Spartans rallied throughout the second half and although having a number of solid opportunities, only was able to convert one to a goal. With five minutes left on the clock, junior Q’shai Darrell taking a smooth hit just wide past the Upstarts’ ‘keeper’, assisted by a clean pass by Josh Thompson in the ‘D’. Despite this and other action in the Upstarts half the match ended 4-3 to Upstarts. Although a high scoring game, the men of the match have to be both goalkeepers who prevented the score line being one of the highest this season.
Wildcats vs Budgies – Final Score: 1-0 to Budgies B
In the match between Wildcats and Budgies, Budgies’ Kaitlyn Miller scored a field goal in the 65th minute.
