BHCT Announces New KEMH Legacy Walkway

April 15, 2014

The Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust [BHCT] today [Apr 15] launched The Legacy Walkway, a new fundraising initiative that will help raise funds for areas of need within Bermuda’s hospitals. The initiative offers residents the opportunity to be a part of Bermuda’s history by purchasing a personalized brick, which will leave a lasting mark in the community.

The Legacy Walkway is part of the permanent pedestrian sidewalk leading into the new Acute Care Wing of the hospital, welcoming all who come to the healthcare facility. Each brick within the Legacy Walkway will be viewed by thousands of patients, staff and hospital visitors this year and the generation to come.

“We invite all to participate in this special project,” says Mr. Philip Butterfield, Chairman of BHCT. “The Legacy Walkway is a tangible way that residents can contribute to our hospital and preserve a legacy for their family and loved ones. We also welcome participation from churches, schools, and associations, as King Edward Memorial is a community hospital.”

A Legacy Brick can be purchased to pay tribute, honour special people or to recognize special memories and milestones. Each brick can be purchased for $1000 and customized with a personal message, tribute, important dates, names of family members, or even a special thank you. The 4” x 8” brick allows for 3 lines of text, approximately 13 characters per line [including spaces].

The Legacy Walkway donations will be contributed to the Why it Matters, to help reach BHCT’s fundraising goal of $40m. The Legacy Walkway is available to all interested donors. To purchase a Legacy Brick today or for more information visit www.bhct.bm or contact Laura Lyons by calling 295-2428 or email laural@bhct.bm.
