KiteFest To Include Children’s Colouring Contest

April 17, 2014

The Good Friday KiteFest is set to take place on April 18, bringing children together for a variety of events, including a kite colouring contest for children up to 12 years old.

A Chewstick spokesperson said, “It’s time for Bermuda’s youth to get creative with a fun coloring competition at Bermuda’s Good Friday KiteFest. Kids up to 12 years old are encouraged to get out their pencils, crayons, and brushes to create an original design of the iconic Bermuda Kite.

“This new element of the three decades old tradition emphasizes the unique characteristics of the Bermuda Kite and Easter traditions in our community. The coloring page encourages young people to explore their creativity as they use their imagination in the kite’s design for a chance to win.

“There are three categories for the coloring contest: under 6 years old, 6-9 years old, and 10-12 years old. There’s a maximum of three submissions per child with a fantastic prize package for first place in each category. There will also be crayons and sheets available for kids to color at the event.”

“In order to take part, print out the online coloring sheet [PDF here], or come to the beach and color right on the sand.

“Color in the picture with whatever coloring tools you like [physically or digitally]. Feel free to color outside the lines – originality and imagination is encouraged.

“Once completed, submit your entry at the Admin Tent at Bermuda’s Good Friday KiteFest by 2.00pm on April 18 on Horseshoe Bay.

“Good luck and have fun. We’re excited to see what you come up with.”
