April 9, 2014

[Updated with video] Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield teammates took on Ipswich Town yesterday [Apr 8] at John Smith’s Stadium, losing 2-0 to their rivals.

Ipswich opened the scoring early when Paul Anderson put a curling left-footed kick into the goal behind Huddersfield keeper Smithies in the sixth minute. Only six minutes after that, Nahki Wells had an opportunity to tie the score, shooting just over the bar.

Ipswich increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal by Daryl Murphy in the 33rd minute with another left-footed finish from the left-hand side of the box. That goal would prove to be the match’s last, lifting Ipswich to victory.

Update April 10: Video of the game’s highlights

Ipswich’s play was mainly on the counter attack with 20 minutes to play and they almost added a third when goal scorer Anderson connected smartly with a cut back, but Smithies was equal to it at his near post.

Town’s only shot on target came late in the second half when Oscar Gobern forced Dean Gerken into a smart save with his legs.

Huddersfield Town’s next match will see them meet with Derby on Saturday, April 12 at iPro Stadium.
