Bermuda Motocross Rider Dies At Florida Race
[Updated] A 20-year-old man died last night [May 6] following an accident at the Moto X Raceway in Florida, and the Pinellas Park Police have identified him as Dale Boorman from Bermuda.
Pinellas Police said Mr Boorman was riding his motorbike north along the inside of the track.
Matthew Gardner, 23, of Lakeland, was riding south when he entered a jump just before a turn in the track. As Mr. Gardner went airborne, police say he entered Mr. Boormans path, and his bike hit Mr. Boorman.
Mr. Boorman’s father was at the track at the time of the accident and received the tragic news that his son had passed.
The full statement from the Pinellas Park police follows below and is here [PDF]
On 5/6/14 at approximately 7:08pm, officers and rescue personnel responded to an accident at 4300 126 Ave., the Moto X raceway. The accident was reported to be between two participants on the motocross track.
Pinellas Park Fire Department Paramedics rendered aid to both subjects. Unfortunately, as a result of the accident, one of the participants died.
The deceased was identified as Dale J. Boorman, w/m 20 from Bermuda. Boorman was pronounced dead at 7:11pm.
Mr. Boorman’s father was at the track at the time of the accident and notified that his son had died from the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The second participant was identified as Matthew Gardner, w/m 23 from Lakeland. He did not suffer any serious injuries.
It appears at this time that Boorman was riding his motorbike north along the inside of the track.
Gardner was riding south along the outside edge of the track when he entered a jump just prior to a turn in the track.
As Gardner went airborne, he entered into Boorman’s lane of travel and his motorbike struck Boorman in the head and upper body.
This case is being handled by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s office and is classified by the Pinellas Park Police Department as an accidental death.

First thing I pull up is BERNEWS each day.
I scroll through the subject and then look at the ‘dislikes’.
Same ole same ole. Makes me sad to see basically the same people do the same without even reading or fathoming it’s/their content.
How can anyone with a living breath dislike a comment that relates to such a tragedy.
I know the answer to that.
Rest in peace my dear cousin.
My thoughts are with the entire family at this time.
You have accomplished much and demonstrated courtesy in your short presence amongst us.
Shalom.
I’ve clicked the Dislike button by mistake before while using my iPhone because the icons are so small any my fingers are so small. I hope that those that clicked dislike button have a similar problem. I hope that people are not that ignorant or cruel.
Motor cycles have been our family passion for many many years.

Dean & Colleen I know that maybe there is nothing anyone can say to ease ur pain right now I can imagine what ur going thru this is a very difficult time for you. I can remember the days when all of us the whole motocross family were racing togather having fun you and I dean , dale and Jahdae I remember the time when I worked with you dean setting your suspension and dale pulled me aside and said uncle stalk thank you so much for setting my dad’s bike I really love to see daddy riding like a pro many don’t understand the bond between father and son that is built in motocross especially when both are riders. You and Colleen did a wonderful job in rasing dale he was a well mannered boy a little crazy on a bike but a beautiful spirt . Life hits us hard somtimes and the question is why ? But you will understand it better by and by . Many of us are using the greatest tool in times like this and that’s prayer . God will give you the strength !!!

Dear Dean, Colleen and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. As we sit here typing, our eyes and heart are heavy. The news of Dale’s passing has hit hard, he is like family. As a family that has a long history in Motocross Racing we have watched and embraced many of the riders who usually start at a young age. We watched Dale grow in motocross. Dale was as everyone writes a genuinely beautiful child, quiet and focused. I remember his smile! There are no words to take away the pain of the loss of your son. We love you both and pray that God gives you the strength you will need to cope with this tragic loss.
Otis, Tammy, Aaron and Caleb
