Day #1: William Way Memorial Tennis Results
The 2014 William Way Memorial Tennis Tournament got underway yesterday [May 8] at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium.
In Men’s Singles action Gavin Manders defeated youngster Amir Thomas in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, while David Thomas won by default over Derek Tucker-Peters. Christopher Weeks was stretched in his match by youngster Luke Stirling 7-5, 6-3.
The lone Women’s Single match saw Cayla Cross defeat Kaylah Ming in a three set battle. Ming won the first set 7-5, but Cross would bounce back to win the second set 6-2, before closing out with a 6-3 third set victory.
