Duffy Wins XTERRA Southeast Championships
Bermuda’s Flora Duffy continues her winning form, racing to yet another victory today [May 17] in the XTERRA Southeast Championship in Alabama.
The course consisted of a 1.5km swim, 30km mountain bike and 10km trail run across the Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama, and Duffy was the first female pro to cross the line in a time of 2:32:04.
Duffy has been very dominant throughout this year’s XTERRA racing season, winning the XTERRA South Africa Championship, the XTERRA West Championship in Nevada and the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship in Australia.
The two-time Olympian was cited as the favourite coming in, with the race preview saying, “For the women it’s all about Flora Duffy, who has been nothing but dominant this season.
“She started mountain biking all the time back in December and we’ve seen her skill level start to match her remarkable fitness level, creating a hard-to-beat-anywhere talent.”
