Local Mom Launches Student Planning Program
A Bermuda mother has responded to the increasing educational needs of middle school students by launching the KICS [Kids in Control Systems] program, offering a line of products intended to make life easier for students, teachers, and parents by helping everyone involved in a child’s education to be more organized, allowing them to focus on the roots of learning.
A spokesperson said, “Ask any parent today how they handle or have handled the middle school years with their child and the answers are as varied as the day is long. For single parents, it is simply overwhelming to say the least because everything falls on their shoulders.
“Faced with her own daughter’s challenges with disorganization, one single mom described their first year of middle school as “rough”. Consequently, Angela Young [pictured] was determined to find ways to equip both her and her daughter to survive middle school in a seamless and organized fashion — at whatever cost.
“The journey entailed long hours of research, lots of prayer, and trials and errors to determine which system best fitted their needs to survive a revolving academic cycle. Sadly, she could not find it in the local or international marketplace so she created it, launching KICS by iAspirations Limited.
“This company was truly birthed by a labour of love,” said founder and president Angela Young.
“Consumed with growing anxiety levels last fall, Angela needed a quick, easy, and practical solution which would teach her and her daughter how to organize binders, how to setup their home to support them, and how to integrate these same systems within her daughter’s academic environment to ensure success.
The resourceful mom recalls her initial plan of attack, saying, “Typically, when students enter middle school, they are requested to get a binder for each class so if they have 10 subjects then that meant you had to buy 10 binders. However, if a child is disorganized, then this is a recipe for failure because there are too many things to focus on when you are carrying around five or more subject binders as well as text books for the day.
“Items are placed either in the locker or wherever the student last placed them and later, they are unable to find them. Naturally, this creates a lot of frustration for both the student and their parents.”
“Experts have termed this scenario as a student possessing weak executive functioning or weak executive skills. Essentially, executive functioning is our ability to plan and organize ourselves to achieve our goals. However, some students are unable to do this naturally and thus, they must be taught these skillsets.
“Interestingly enough, this trend is increasing as more students possess weak executive skills. Meanwhile, many schools boast similar mission statements with the aim to produce tomorrow’s generation of global leaders and thinkers, but how can they if the students are disorganized?”
“iAspirations Limited is poised to meet this unique challenge. Inspiring students to become their best authentic self is at the heart of the endeavor. The newly formed company is determined to offer superior products and services tailored to meet the needs of today’s student at an affordable rate. Consumers can browse throughout the KICS online store, where they will find binder systems, motivational student planners, and private coaching sessions, just to mention a few.
“While I am proud of our KICS products and services, I am particularly excited about our teen book club, KICS Reviews by Blú,” shared the Bermudian entrepreneur. “Blú will offer avid teen readers a quick synopsis and ranking of some of the hottest young adult titles, including those titles which have been turned into Hollywood blockbusters. Young adult readers are also invited to get social with Blú by visiting her blog and giving their feedback on each ranking.”
“This is only a snapshot of the recently formed company’s diverse offerings. More exciting products will be rolling out over the next few weeks.”
Angela Young noted, “KICS by iAspirations Limited will continue to challenge traditional educational methods as we are committed to inspiring today’s students to aspire for greatness.”

Awesome services for kids! Not enough focus is given to education when it determines our success to such a large extent. That has never been more true than now. The smart phones, nice bikes, etc. are very temporary but education will provide much more for a lifetime. KICS Systems: great services, products and website!
