Pan American Cycling Championships Update
Yesterday [May 8] was the individual time trial in Mexico for the Pan American Cycling Championships, with Bermuda cyclists Dominique Mayho and Nicole Mitchell seeing mixed results.
Bermuda Bicycle Dissociation president Peter Dunne said, “Nicole Mitchell finished 13th out of 18 starters, a strong performance in a competition won by Evelyn Stevens of the United States. Dominique Mayho did not finish the course due to mechanical problems, which was a disappointment given the preparation he has put into this.
“Mahyo is registered in the under 23 race and Mitchell is in the women’s race. Both athletes are using this competition as a part of their Commonwealth Games build up and will continue racing this Saturday in the road race.”
Saturday’s road race will see Nicole Mitchell cycle 88.8 kilometers in the Women’s road race, while Dominique Mayho will cycle 148 kilometers in the U23 men’s road race.
The competition is being hosted by the Federacion Mexicana de Ciclismo [Mexican Cycling Federation] and is a qualifying event for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.
Heads up Team Bermuda! You stay strong Dominique, get that bike road ready and show them what ya got! Good work Nicole!
