Police Continue Investigating Baby’s Remains
Police are continuing to investigate the finding of a baby’s remains on May 9, 2014 at a grave site on Trinity Church Road in Hamilton Parish, working with both hospital and church officials in order to identify the child.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is still working with King Edward VII Memorial Hospital as well as church officials to find out the identity of the child whose remains were found on Friday, May 9 near to a grave site on Trinity Church Road in Hamilton Parish. This is a delicate matter and, as previously stated, foul play is not suspected.”
Assistant Commissioner Antoine Daniels previously stated that the remains were “of a baby in a mummified condition.”
On the day the remains were found, Mr. Daniels said, “I wish to reassure the Bermuda community that we are conducting inquiries into the discovery of the baby remains found in Hamilton Parish today, however, based on the information gathered thus far, this death does not appear to be suspicious.
“In recent weeks there has been extensive maintenance being carried out at this particular grave site resulting in a number of tombs being refurbished. The baby was found in a mummified condition, fully disinterred and appears to have a medical band of some type around his wrist.”
Hopefully this mystery is solved soon so that this precious soul can rest in peace.
