Tennis: William Way Memorial Day #10 Results
The 2014 William Way Memorial Tennis Tournament came to an end at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium, with Fur Finals on Day Ten.
In the Ladies Doubles Final, Erika Bove & Elizabeth Stewart defeated Tara Lambert & Jacklyn Lambert in a three setter, Bove and Stewart looked to have things their own way in the first set winning 6-2, , but the Lamberts won the second set that was a battle 7-6. The third set tie-breaker was a hotly contested match that Bove and Stewart were able to hold their nerve and win the set 11-9..
The Men’s Doubles Final saw Jenson Bascome & Gavin Manders defeat Andy Bray & Sam Butler in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, while Luke Stirling defeated Charlie Boyle 6-1, 6-1 in the Men’s Consolation Final.
The Final match of the tournament was the Mixed Doubles Championships that saw Jenson Bascome & Tara Lambert defeat Erika Bove & David Thomas in a three set battle.
Bascome and Lambert won the first set 6-4, but Thomas and Bove would capture the second sets 6-1, sending the decider to a third set tie-breaker that Bascome and Lambert were able to win 10-3.
