World Distributors Charity Squash Tournament

May 6, 2014

The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association [BSRA] will be holding its World Distributors Charity Squash Tournament from May 7 through May 10, 2014. There are over 75 participants in Mens’ A, B, and C draws, Ladies A and B draws, and the Junior division.

Part of the proceeds generated by the tournament will go towards supporting the Bermuda Diabetes Association.

Runa Reta, Assistant Director of the BSRA, said, “Our Legends event was incredibly inspiring for our members to watch world-class squash, and I know that they have been itching to get back into competition themselves.

“World Distributors Ltd has been our generous sponsor for over 10 years now for this tournament, and it is a special event because part of the proceeds are given to the Bermuda Diabetes Association. We have over 75 players participating.”

“Jason Shrubb has been away in the U.S. studying and is seeded third in this event. He is surely going to be in top shape after completing the U.S. college squash season, so he is one who could cause an upset. He is scheduled to meet Nick Kyme in the semi-final.

“In the womens’ divison, Alex Furtado is a former junior who has returned to the island and will be looking to cause an upset in the Womens’ A division.

“Patrick Foster, the director of the BSRA, is the defending champion and is seeded number one in this event. He is the only one defending in his particular division. On the women’s side, Susie Lacey is the top seed and Liz Martin is ranked at number two.

Full draws for all divisions can be found online.”
