12th Annual BELCO Cricket Cup Prize Giving
Today, Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited [BELCO] and the Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] presented cheques to the participants of the 12th annual BELCO Cup, which was held May 17 and 18.
BELCO Chief Operating Officer Denton Williams congratulated St. David’s for their inaugural victory in this year’s BELCO Cup. St. David’s, BELCO Cup hosts, took the cup home after defeating Willow Cuts in the final match. George O’Brien was named Man of the Match for his innings of 44 runs and for taking four early Willow Cuts’ wickets after 47 runs.
Prize cheques were presented to the following:
- Winners – St. David’s — $1,500
- Finalists – Willow Cuts — $1,000
- Semi-finalists – Cleveland County and Southampton Rangers — $500 each
- Man of the Match – George O’Brien — $300
The Bermuda Cricket Board National Youth Academy was chosen as the charity recipient to benefit from the gate proceeds of the final this year. The National Youth Academy provides Bermuda’s talented young cricket players with a comprehensive programme to develop their skills while also providing them with the tools they need to become well-rounded members of the community. As a result, BELCO presented a cheque for $2,500.50 to the Bermuda Cricket Board for their National Youth Academy.
As Cup sponsor, BELCO also presented a cheque for $3,000 to the Bermuda Cricket Board.
