Somersfield Academy To Present ‘Tapestry 2014′

June 10, 2014

Somersfield Academy will present their annual creative and performing arts showcase this Saturday, June 14th at Somersfield Academy from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Dubbed Tapestry 2014, the show will feature students from Somersfield Academy, Warwick Academy, the Bermuda School of Music, Jackson School of Dance and others will be performing their remarkable talents in music, dance, gymnastics, jump rope and more.

There will be a raffle with prizes sponsored by Conspec, Peoples’ Pharmacy and Mr. Chicken, and an art exhibition by Somersfield students will also be on display during the evening’s event.

“Tapestry was born out of the desire to showcase the creative arts at Somersfield Academy,” stated Janice Pearman the music teacher at Somersfield Academy, “But it has expanded to include creative and performing art students from across our Island.”

Explaining the title of the event, Ms. Pearman said, “If one was to visualize a patchwork quilt, each small piece tells a story; a story of shared experiences, a story of a process, a story of a journey.

“Each story creates a memory, forges friendships, and gives a taste of the importance of the creative arts to the holistic development of the child. Tapestry provides a sampling of each story and uses the medium of music, art, drama and movement to weave and showcase the journey of each child as they embark on their own piece of the quilt.”

Tapestry 2014 tickets are available at BDAtix.com and Somersfield Academy. Adults are $25 and children are $10. Patron tickets are still available for $50 and include a pre-event cocktail hour at 5:30 pm.

Tickets will also be available at the door with an added $10 surcharge on adult tickets and $5 surcharge on children’s tickets. All proceeds from this event go to supporting the Somersfield Creative Arts Department.
