Results: Aon Bermuda’s Charity Cricket Match

Aon Charity Cricket Match thumbAon Bermuda Limited hosted a charity cricket match on July 3 at the Devonshire Recreation Club, with players hitting the pitch at 12.30pm.

Matched up against the Underwriters, the Brokers managed to pull out the victory.

After the loss of their colleague Ellvera Nusum to breast cancer, the charities chosen to benefit from the day included two organisations— PALS and Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre, each of which serves the community with respect to cancer awareness, education and patient care.

Teams battled it out for bragging rights and were made up of employees from the broking houses on one side and employees from the insurance companies on the other.

The brokers played for P.A.L.S. while the underwriters played for The Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre.

A spokesperson said, “The Brokers pulled off a stunning win, honoring the memory of their coworker Ms. Ellvera Nusum. Ms. Nusum’s children were in attendance to enjoy the day of cricket and were well-pleased.

“The Broker team line-ups included Anthony Calder-Smith [Aon – Captain], David Norman [Aon], Kyle Adams [Aon], Warren Smith [Aon], Richard Keegan [Aon], Laurence Noble [Aon], Ryan Davidge [Aon], Kelby Lusher [Aon], Duan Leverock [Aon], Fernando Paul [Aon], Stephen Drake [Marsh], Matthew Durrant [Aon], Charles Scherer [Aon], and Patricia Daniels [Aon].

“The Underwriters team line-up included Nik Lucking [Montpelier – Captain], David Jenkins [Ace], Noel Pearman [XL], Dwayne Adams [Ace], David Porter [AIG], Marc Wetherhill [Partner Re], Tyler Owen [XL], Justin Freisenbruch [Ren Re], Jon Hughes [Montpelier], Ross Nottingham [Hiscox], Mark Robinson [Validus], and Daniel Rance [Iron-Starr].

“The Underwriters batted first and posted a score of 188 from 30 overs. The team’s high scorers were Mark Robinson with 30 runs, Dwayne Adams with 19 runs, Justin Freisenbruch with 17 runs, and Jon Huhes with 13 runs.

“The top bowlers for the Underwriters were Anthony Calder-Smith, who was 3 for 32 from 6 overs, Warren Smith, who was 3 for 28 from 6 overs, and Fernando Paul, who was 1 for 15 from 5 overs.

“Kyle Adams had two catches and a run-out in the field. The Brokers chased down the score making 191 from 23 overs.

“The high scorers for the Brokers were Stephen Drake with 58 runs and Warren Smith with 43 runs. The top bowlers for the Brokers were Noel Pearman, who was 3 for 8 runs from 3 overs, Marc Weatherhill, who was 1 for 15 from 5 overs, and Mark Robinson, who was 2 for 18 from 2 overs.

“Special thanks to the two umpires who volunteered their time to officiate the match: Mr. Hector Watson and Mr. Sean “Bobby” Smith.”
