Masterworks Camp Honours Dying Boy’s Wish
In Foxboro, Massachusetts there is a five-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumour who has one dying wish – to receive birthday cards from all over the world –and young Bermuda students at Masterwork’s summer art camp are helping make that wish a reality.
5 year old Danny Nickerson was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma last month – a condition from which less than 10 percent of sufferers live longer than 18 months. His birthday is on Friday, July 25 and he has already received over 1,000 cards.
Krystal Paulino, Masterworks Education Coordinator, gave this year’s campers this special project with instructions to “make a card that would make Danny feel better while he’s not well – because no one wants to be sick on their birthday.”

“Brooke Mello, who is an instructor at the Masterworks Summer Camp, worked diligently with the kids to create cards that they felt they’d want to receive if they were in Danny’s situation. The camp currently has 40 children who are focusing on Bermuda-inspired art from the Masterworks permanent collection.
A spokesperson said, “Masterworks hopes that Danny will be excited to see Bermuda as one of the countries represented in his mailbox. Along with the art students, Masterworks staff and volunteers will also contribute to making Danny’s birthday an unforgettable one.”
If you too would like to participate, you can send your birthday card to Danny at P.O. Box 212, Foxboro, MA, 02035.
This is so sweet! I love when people come together and do things like this!

There’s always one sad troll in every lot…thankfully, most of us don’t think that way.
as i read this article of 5 year old danny i was deeply touch about his illness, here you have a boy who is just starting life , who should be enjoying himself with his family, friends his school friends ,not having to worry about the strss of life problems, instead you have these grown up adults everyday complaining about the small trival things. i think if they read about danny they might just stop and realize how precious life is and thank God he gave them another day to see , because danny”s life his days, are in Gods hands. i can’t imagine what his parents are dealing with but only trusting in God to see them through one day at a time ,i also applaud krystal paulino of mastersworks education coordinator who encorage the students to send cards to danny, it helps them to show compassion to others and God will bless them and you . i will pray for danny which i hope he has a wonderful 5th birthday and i will ask my seventhday hamilton church to pray for danny and his family. i send this to danny and his family from my heart and know that i trully care of what you are going through. from sharon brown
I forgot to thank brooke mello the instructor at the masterwork summer camp for helping the kids to create the cards may God bless you.
