PwC Bermuda Welcomes 13 Bermudian Interns
PwC Bermuda has welcomed 13 Bermudian interns for the summer as part of the firm’s successful HeadStart programme. The students are gaining valuable on-the-job training aimed at developing their professional and interpersonal skills.
A spokesperson said, “They are working on a range of projects, providing them with experience in all of the firm’s different lines of service from Tax, Insurance and Asset Management to Marketing and Communications. They have the opportunity to work on client engagements and take part in challenging assignments.
“The students are also engaging in a number of activities where they interact with their colleagues, including helping to organise networking events for the PwC HeadStart team.
“Outside of work, for fun and teambuilding, the students work in the community as part of PwC’s corporate responsibility initiatives. This year students are volunteering at the Matilda Smith Williams Seniors Residence, helping with maintenance needs and painting the building.”
David Gibbons, PwC Managing Director and HeadStart programme leader, said, “Our internships and full-time opportunities provide students with the best experiences to learn, grow and excel in their careers. They experience opportunities to grow as an individual and build lasting relationships.
“If students perform well, there is potential that they can secure a full-time position with PwC. This allows students to focus on university life knowing a full-time career is secured. Our goal is to recruit and develop students to their full potential with their personal career goals in mind.”

Kyle Harvey, a student at Wilfrid Laurier University who is studying Business Administration, said, “Working in each team has allowed me to develop my professional and interpersonal skills through client engagements and coaching. Overall, the hands-on nature of the internship has allowed me to gain a vast amount of knowledge on accounting and the auditing process.”
Nikki-Lynn Marshall, a recent graduate of Boston University with a BA in Economics and International Relations, noted, “I have had the opportunity to be placed in the tax department for the summer, allowing me to learn more about tax compliance procedures and the new regulations, while gaining understanding about various types of tax risks and strategies.
“The aspect of the internship programme that will resonate with me most is the coaching and development that we have all received. Each Friday we enjoy a learning and development day which involves participating in various workshops and personal growth activities, allowing us to tailor and refine our professional and academic interests, while improving key business skills through teamwork and collaboration within the HeadStart intern group.”
Dominick Wright, a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, said, “From day one, PwC made me feel as though I was part of their team. My supervisors have always been extremely supportive, answering any questions I’ve had. Also, I have been able to work independently on tasks, allowing me to take on new challenges.”
“I would highly recommend this internship to anyone with an interest in a professional services career.”
