Court: 36 Year Old On Sexual Assault Charges

August 13, 2014

A 36-year-old man appeared in Magistrates Court yesterday [Aug 12] after having been previously charged with sexual assault of a person under 16.

The man — who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons but is understood to be a police officer who has been suspended from duty — is accused of, while in a position of trust, having a person under the age of 16 to touch a certain part of his body with her mouth. He was also charged with having unlawful carnal knowledge with the girl.

Following the Crown’s request that he surrender his travel documents, Senior Magistrate Archie Warner overruled the defence lawyer’s objection and ordered that the defendant’s travel documents must be surrendered. With this condition added, his $5,000 bail was continued.

This is a sad case as all cases like this is. I am a little confused as to why the bail is so small and void of a surety.

Don’t know if this comment is a joke and I’m not commenting on this case right now. There are too many pedophiles on this island. Women don’t make a difference because pedophiles are sick individuals who prey on children!!
