ITF Beach Tennis Cancelled Due To Weather
The 7th International ITF Bermuda Beach Tennis Tournament, which was scheduled to kick off tomorrow [Aug 26] at Horseshoe Bay Beach has been cancelled due to the inclement weather.
Organiser Tony Brannon said, “It is with great regret that due to the weather conditions, it is impossible to set up and create the tournament for Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Mr. Brannon said he called the Weather Service who noted “that conditions may deteriorate further, and said that the tent vendors will not set up in the expected weather conditions, “there will be no spectators, and the sea surge, winds and rain will make play impossible.”
The island has been experiencing rain and thunderstorms over the past few days, a Thunderstorm Advisory is in effect, and the Bermuda Weather Service has said that Tropical Storm Cristobal is a “potential threat” to the island, with the storm’s closest point of approach to Bermuda forecast to be 165 nautical miles to the north-west at 9pm on Wednesday.
