August 14, 2014

In Magistrate’s Court this morning [Aug 14], a 39-year-old man was not required to plead to a charge of the attempted murder of Mr. Herbie Spencer in Pembroke on August 11, 2014.

Garth Bell was informed that the charge was indictable and can only be tried in Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo acknowledged the Crown’s objection to bail, but granted Mr. Bell bail at $15,000 with one Surety. The Magistrate also imposed several other conditions.

Mr. Bell was required to report to Hamilton Police Station every Tuesday and Thursday between 6.00am and 6.00pm, surrender his travel documents, stay away from the victim, and have alternate living arrangements in place when Mr. Spencer, who is the defendant’s stepfather, returns home.

Mr. Bell also must return to Magistrate’s Court on August 28, 2014.
