Video: Parks Test Propane Powered Mower
Minister of Public Works, Patricia Gordon-Pamplin recently attended a test trial display of a new Toro propane powered professional rider mower being used by the Parks Department.
Bermuda Gas has offered the machine on a free trial basis for three months with the Department of Parks only responsible for the cost of the fuel used.
The Minister said, “With responsibility for the care and maintenance of more than 2,000 acres of Bermuda land, the efficiency of using this machine will be put to good use.
“The Government is committed to protecting our environment, so we’d be happy to reduce our carbon footprint by as much as 25%.
“We will pay only for the propane, which is considerably cheaper than either gasoline or diesel. By using an electronic fuel-injected [EFI] motor, as opposed to a carburetor, the maintenance issues are greatly reduced.
“The Department of Parks will see many benefits from this partnership with Bermuda Gas and it bodes well for future joint partnerships.”
Representatives from Bermuda Gas and Toro, along with Department of Parks staff were also in attendance to conduct the test trial of this fuel efficient and environmentally friendly landscaping machine.

Did she ask for the name “Toro” to be removed from the Government lawnmower as it was “a security risk” or was that fantasy just reserved for GP cars!
