September 10, 2014

There have been some ups and down, however it has been solid start for Team Bermuda at the WATC – a 2 under par (-2) team score thanks to 71’s from both Mark Phillips and Jarryd Dillas.

Jarryd Dillas, William Haddrell, and Mark Phillips are all representing Bermuda at the 29th Men’s World Amateur Team Championship – Eisenhower Trophy [WATC], which is being played at Karuizawa 72 Golf East in Karuizawa, Japan.

Will Haddrell also had a solid opening round with a 1 over par [+1] 73. Jarryd Dillas had a rough start with a bogey on one which he made up on the 5th.

He then had back to back bogeys on 6 and 7 to make the turn at +2. Birdies at 10 and 11 put him back to even before he birdied the 18th to card his 71. Mark Phillips started hot with a birdie at the first which he gave back at two before making birdies on 3, 5 and 6 to get to -3.

A lost tee shot at the 9th resulted in a double bogey 6 making Phillips -1 at the turn. He made 9 straight pars on the back nine including an up and down from 20 yards on the final hole after finding trouble off the tee to card his 71. The full leaderboard is here.
