Video: BPS On Search Warrants, Six Arrests
[Updated] The police held a press conference today [Sept 25] speaking about the execution of search warrants in the Deep Dale area earlier today, which resulted in six people being arrested and a quantity of what the police said is “believed” to be drugs seized.
The six people — four adult males, one juvenile male, and one female — were arrested this morning, and the police said they seized a “quantity of substances” which the police said are “believed to be drugs in addition to drug paraphernalia.”
Acting Assistant Commissioner James Howard said that there were “between 30 – 40 officers” present in the area as the warrant was being carried out, explaining that police officers were informing area residents as the searches were taking place.
“In the past we would normally do that after the fact,” said Mr. Howard. “But what we decided is that from now on as things are taking place, residents will be informed.”
Acting Assistant Commissioner James Howard on today’s police action:
Update 3.38pm: Mr Howard’s full statement is below
Early this morning, the Bermuda Police Service conducted multiple search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act around the Deepdale Road East, Pembroke area. This resulted in the arrest of four adult males, one juvenile male and one female.
During the searches a quantity of substances suspected to be controlled drugs were found along with drug paraphernalia.
Investigations are continuing and the arrested persons are expected to be brought before the courts in the near future.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience the residents of the Deepdale Road East area experienced during this morning’s police activity.
In addition, residents may have noticed Community Action Team pamphlets in their mailboxes afterwards. The Central Community Action Team is committed to working with the residents of Deepdale Road East to improve their neighbourhood.
One of the initiatives Community Action Team officers will immediately focus on is several areas of graffiti on the neighbourhood’s surrounding concrete walls.
They plan to collaborate with external community partners as well as residents to remove the graffiti, in order to enhance the physical environment of the Deepdale Road East area.
Moreover in future, Community Action Team officers intend to liaise with area residents whenever similar police activity is taking place in the various neighbourhoods around the island.
We continue to encourage anyone with information regarding the possession and sale of illegal drugs to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.
Good job BPS
I live in the neighbourhood and we are happy over the police actions today. For too long we have been held hostage by a small but persistant group that sell drugs in the area. This results in a large group of addicts roaming the area morning noon and night. Many of us live in fear in the neighbourhood and the quality of life for a number of people is pretty much nonexistant. Many of us are senior citzens and we are terrified to go out doors as the who place is like a third world country at times. Today I saw a ray of hope and I am thankful. We need this to be consistent however, I have seen this before, after a while it goes back tot business as usual. We can not afford this. The community is hanging on by a thread. to the Police Force good work, thank you for coming to our homes and speaking to us. I was the woman in the robe that came to the door….(smile) Just by coming to my house felt respected for the first time by the police. I am thankful for today and I hope it is the start of a new era for Deep Dale.
Wait until they make weed legal…
What the F… does cannabis have to with any of this really?
Do ya homework stop saying anything and do ya damn homework please.
Bullsheet.
You don’t live in the area.
Read again what you wrote.
I have never read so much disinformation in my life via a website from Bermuda.
How much they pay you.
I htink you need to re-read the article and what that person wrote.
Stop lying! The boys that hang out there being no harm, as a matter of fact they help a lot, watch out for the kids when they are outside EVERYDAY and help some RESIDENTS pay their bills just to stay. I don’t condone the drugs if that is true but don’t paint deep dale as this big 3world zone. Oh and I am a deep dale resident , have been all my life.
Come on dude, ya saying anything. “I don’t condone the drugs if that is true”, ya not serz! If you was a real resident then you would know that both weed and the hard stuff is sold.
Im not a real resident because im not going to say if I’ve seen anything. Please. Don’t listen to everything you hear. Like I said these “trouble makers” are the ones who look after the many kids in the neighborhood & help others financially. How many other “troubled” hoods can you say that about.
Clearly ‘each one reach one’ is a CAT officer…
There are alot more places that need this done…just bout every parish! Clean up these streets!
Good to see the BPS reaching out to the community.
Good work fellas.
See something say something… Good job to those in that neighborhood who finally took action. Communities are finally fighting back.
How could anyone “dislike” that fact that the BPS are helping to take our precious island back. Be a part of the solution!
This is a good initiative, however there are quite a few officers who take the law into their own hands and then take their frustrations out on the public. I think thats why you have a few people who are disliking the BPS’s actions becasue they have experienced first hand (as have I) the injustice and appaling efforts by certain officers. Not taking away from this effort or those good upstanding officers, but certain babylon boys on the front lines have got to go in order to get the support of the community in its entirety.
But hey, who am I, just a man speaking from the experiences of both sides.

Social media “Dislike?
is not far off.
Look around.
all a raid dose is make the next dealer richer. lets face it the war on drugs would never be won. and to ones calling for are streets to be cleaned up ask your self do we have the money to build a facility that can hold the addicts. because not every body can go cold turkey.
DANG, you ain’t lie bruh!!
One of the most asinine things I’ve ever heard of. Telling people that as things go on you are going to knock on their doors. With upcoming pay cuts and people with jobs on the line then it seems like the bps need a way to justify keeping all the guest workers.
Appropriate name.
really? This is a problem because there are expat police officers? when are you signing up to join then? what about your family? how many of them have joined the police so they don’t need to hire expats????
Actually, several peopel I know have applied and undertaken the several exams and have passed, only to be told that spaces are filled or to apply next time round. But for some reason, we keep hiring foreign officers with minimal experience. Go figure.
Just speaking from knowledge and past experiences.

Here, here! Have experienced it first hand.
Those that hit the dislike button got issues. The minute someone breaks in their house who do they call BPS
Not true.
Now everyone can start to enjoy the paradise we live in. Next time a economic crash happens I expect to see bps warrants on big bank and insurance companies
somebody up west is talking not westside but westgate
It just said drugs and drug paraphernalia. Lets keep our heads clear – don’t think it’s pot because I think the police would have stated this.
Hard core drugs need to go.
The BPS probably found some wax and glass which are cannabis concentrates of pure THC.
this time put that animal into prison for good, where he belongs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Howard for Commissioner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
