Photos: CedarBridge Academy Fall Graduation
Over 70 parents and friends attended the CedarBridge Academy Fall Graduation for the Class of 2014, to honour ten students who went through the summer school programme to graduate this year.
When the ceremony opened, Mrs. Kalmar Richards, principal of CedarBridge Academy, called each student by name — Na’twan Fisher, Andrea Knight, Shauntia Laws, Mickai Lowe, Shalae Robinson, K’La Simmons, Destiny Smith, Victoriea Sousa, Kyle Tucker and Jahquise Usher — and spoke about a specific individual achievement and positive character they all displayed.
She retold the story of the engineer and his son responsible for building the Brooklyn Bridge and told how, despite their struggles and people telling them it could not be done, it was a success. Mrs. Richards encouraged the students to recognize that nothing is beyond their talents, and to use life’s examples to improve the lives of others.
Ashanti Stovell read “Our Greatest Fear” by Marianne Williamson, and the guest speaker for the graduation was 2006 CedarBridge graduate Juanae Scott, who referred to the school’s theme PUSH [Push Until Success Happens] with her message being to pursue what you love.
Shadow Minister of Education Lovita Foggo was also in attendance, and she encouraged the students to recognize that even though their journey was different, they made it, which is the most important thing.

Good Job well done. Now onto the next chapters in your lives. Wonderful job to everyone.
Congratulations all of you.
Congratulations graduating students. You must be commended for your hard work. The future looks bright for you.
Also, thank you to the faculty who worked hard, during the summer, to make this happen. Your dedication and loyalty to your students is inspirational.
Well done to all graduates. Special bermp bermp to my nephew Quise and my niece-in-law (lol) Destiny. See how easy that was. :) Love you guys.
Uncle Ty.
Where’s the minister of education….?
Stop with the politics. The Minister is not graduating – these wonderful young people are graduating. Hold them up, encourage them and stop boring everyone with politics. Aren’t you tired yet of looking at politicians? I am. I would rather see stories of achievement, opportunities and hard work.
Politicians do not raise our children – we do. Why do you expect them to always be at your side? Stop whining, start parenting and get a life, please.
I love this story! My daughters graduation was different also. Now she is a Corporate Executive. Your perserverence is a trait to be admired. Nothing is out of reach!
Why does the minister need to be there? I graduated from CBA when the PLP was in and the minister of education then wasn’t there either.
I think this was great!
