Results: Weekend Hockey League Action
This weekend’s hockey league action saw the Budgies defeat the Longtails in the women’s division, while the Polecats went down to the Spartans in the men’s division.
Women’s Division: Budgies 6 Longtails 0
In this women’s division match up, the Budgies defeated the Longtails 6 – 0. Brittany Ming opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a field goal while Jasmine Patterson doubled the lead with a field goal in the 20th minute.
Amy Fox’s 29th minute field goal made it 3 – 0 to the Budgies. Jasette Smith made it 4 – 0 with a field goal in the 36th minute before Patterson added her second goal of the game with a 38th minute penalty corner goal. Francesca Cacace closed out the scoring with a field goal in the 59th minute.
Men’s Division: Polecats 3 Spartans 8
The Spartans took a 1 – 0 lead with a field goal from Hemijah Bean in the 5th minute. Samuel Thompson doubled the lead with a field goal in the 11th minute and two minutes later it was 2 – 1 when Lee Uddin scored a field goal for the Polecats.
In the 16th minute Chris Pacheco scored a field goal for the Spartans to give them a two goal lead yet again but Richard Marriott pulled the Polecats back within one when he scored from a penalty corner in the 29th minute. Zahkari Minors scored a 33rd minute field goal for the Spartans to give them a 4 – 2 halftime lead.
Bean scored his second field goal of the game in the 39th minute making the score 5 – 2. Four minutes later Thompson scored his second field goal of the game making it 6 – 2. Uddin scored his second field goal of the game in the 48th minute to pull the Polecats within three making the score 6 – 3.
Justin Dill scored a field goal for the Spartans in the 68th minute and when Pacheco scored his second field goal of the game in the 69th minute, it made the final score 8 – 3 to the Spartans.
