Upcoming: Winter Swimming Championships
The Mailboxes Limited Winter Age Group Championships will take place this weekend and is the first championship level meet for the new season.
The meet will be held on Friday evening [Dec 5] from 6 – 7:15pm, Saturday morning from 8:30 – 10:30am and Sunday morning from 8:30 to 10:30am.
A spokesperson said, “Most of the swimmers have been training hard since September and this will be the test of their fitness and technique. There will be eight age group Champions crowned at the completion of the three day meet with total FINA points from five events.
“Most of the events are longer in distance at this Championship as we look for the endurance that has been built over the last 3 months. There will be several swimmers looking to make their Carifta qualifying times at this meet as we get closer to the qualification deadline of January 31st.
“On Saturday morning we will also be having our 3rd Development meet for the season from 11-12pm. This is an opportunity for the young swimmers to test their training and see if they have developed enough to qualify for the standard level meets. Please come out and support the young Bermuda swimmers over this fun 3 day event.”
